Mild acute cholecystitis

Patients were 18 to 70 years old

Group A: amoxicillin clavulanate (Augmentin) (1 g IV every 8 h) until discharge. Patients allergic to penicillin (n = 12) were treated with a combination of ciprofloxacin (400 mg IV every 12 h) and metronidazole (500 mg IV every 8 h).

Group B: nonantibiotic treatment. Supportive care.
